Inspired by the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who went to work in a school in Argentina in 1976. Expecting an easy ride, Tom (Steve Coogan) discovers a divided nation and a class of unteachable students.  However, after he rescues a penguin from an oil-slicked beach, his life is turned upside-down.

Starring: Steve Coogan; Björn Gustafsson; David Herrero; Jonathan Pryce;  Aimar Miranda; Nicanor Fernandez; Hugo Fuertes; Joaquín Lopez; Miguel Alejandro Serrano; Osvaldo Ayre; Juan M. Barreiro; Ramiro Blas; Cristina Plazas; Berta Vázquez; Micaela Breque; Alfonsina Carrocio; Romina Cocca; Vivian El Jaber; Julián Galli Guillén; Gera Maleh; Brendan McNamee; Dodi de Miquel; Florencia Nocetti; Tomás Pozzi

The Penguin Lessons is a charmer: a warmer of cockles, a tugger of heartstrings, even a jerker of tears if you’re not careful.  And while it may in hindsight seem a little over-engineered to do all those things, that doesn’t dampen the effect.  People’s Choice material or not, I loved it.”  (Chris Knight, Original-Cin)

“Coogan brings a delightfully sardonic deadpan to the role of the bemused bystander observing the antics of penguins, adolescents and … military dictatorships.”  (Kate Taylor, The Globe and Mail (Toronto))

“As much as it might omit details important to the wider historical context, The Penguin Lessons confidently engages with its intended topics, and creates something beautiful and emotional.”  (Ben Gibbons, Screen Rant)
