What is the vision and goal?
The vision is to transform the present three-theatre cinema complex into an arts center, complete with a stage, seating for 250 – 274 on a flat floor with risers and raked balcony, and a performer support area with storage. This renovation will result in approximately 4000 square feet of flat space (including the stage) that will permit MHCA to present plays, large concerts, and artistic exhibits, as it has in the past, in addition to cinema. Engineer reviewed and approved preliminary designer plans are soon to be available at memhall.org and are available at the theatre.
In February, 2014, a very generous donor offered to make a sizable donation ($350,000) towards the conversion. The offer was contingent on the community’s resolve to pay down, within a year, the $63,701 debt associated with the purchase and installation of the Sony digital projector. Please help MHCA achieve the goal set by this large donor for the benefit of the arts in the community. Those donors who contribute $300 to the Projector Fund will have their names added to a plaque that will be permanently and prominently displayed in the theatre for all time.
