Saturday, July 2 – THE PLATTERS Spend an evening with the internationally acclaimed group that performed at President Clinton’s inauguration and the coronation of the Queen of England.  “Only You,” “The Magic Touch,” “My Prayer,” and “The Great Pretender,” and more.   8:00 p.m.  

Tuesday, July 5 – Tuesday Night Series – THE VERMONT JAZZ ENSEMBLE – A Tribute to STAN KENTON and GLENN MILLER  The seventeen-piece big band devotes an entire evening to these two famous swing bandleaders.   7:30 p.m.  

 

Saturday, July 9 – HABITAT for HUMANITY BENEFIT CONCERT – Sue Andrea and a five- piece band in an evening of song for the benefit of the local chapter of this 501 (c) (3) international charity.   8:00 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, July 12 – Tuesday Night BROADWAY CABARET SERIES – You’re Going to Hear From Me – FROM BROADWAY TO CINEMA – Avery Sommers, the gal who replaced Nell Carter in the Broadway musical AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ and who covered the role of Queenie in the Broadway production of SHOWBOAT, presents an evening of songs and anecdote from Broadway shows that went to the movies, and songs written for the movies that went to the Great White Way.  Piano accompaniment.   7:30 p.m.   

 

Saturday, July 16 – VILLAGE LIGHT OPERA GROUPSixty accomplished NYC vocalists present Broadway standards, light opera favorites, and well-known songs from Gilbert and Sullivan.  A tradition in the Deerfield Valley, this special concert benefits MHCA.   8 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, July 19 – Tuesday Night CABARET SERIES – I’LL TAKE ROMANCE  – The Sonny & Perley Trio – Perley Rousseau, piano and percussion, Sonny Daye, piano, and Tom Charlap, bass, return to MHCA with an evening of songs of love and romance by such world-renown composers as Cole Porter, Richard Rogers, Edith Piaf, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more.   7:30 p.m.   

 

Saturday, July 23 – MHCA GARDEN TOUR – MUSIC IN THE GARDENEnjoy musical interludes as you explore some of the Valley’s most beautiful gardens.  A special benefit for MHCA.   9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.   

 

Saturday, July 23 – Train of Love – A TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH – Terry Lee Goffee, with bass guitar, drums, keyboard, lead and rhythm guitars, and two supporting-vocalists.  Half concert, half stage show, the two-hour performance with 34 tunes includes Goffee in a first-person narrative of Cash’s long career.  “I Walk the Line,” “Hurt,” “A Boy Named Sue,” and “Folsom Prison Blues,” are just the beginning.   8:00 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, July 26 – Tuesday Night BROADWAY CABARET SERIES – Broadway and Beyond! Kevin McGuire, who played the PHANTOM for two years in the Toronto production of The Phantom of the Opera, in a cabaret of popular songs of European and American composers.  Richard Cherry, piano accompanist.     7:30 p.m.

 

Friday, Saturday, & Monday, July 29, 30, & August 1 – INTO THE WOODS – The Deerfield Valley Players present this enchanting Sondheim Broadway musical.   Winner of three 1988 Tony awards including Best Book and Best Score.   8:00 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, August 2 – Tuesday Night Series – BENJAMIN HOCHMAN – Internationally-acclaimed pianist, appearing at MARLBORO MUSIC FESTIVAL this season, in an evening of solo piano, performing works by Beethoven, Janacek, Ravel, and Chopin.    7:30 p.m.  

 

Friday & Saturday, August 5, & 6 – INTO THE WOODS – The Deerfield Valley Players present this enchanting Sondheim Broadway musical.  Winner of three 1988 Tony awards including Best Book and Best Score.   8:00 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, August 9 – Tuesday Night BROADWAY CABARET SERIES – THE PHANTOM IN VERMONTCris Groenendaal, presenting songs from The Phantom of the Opera, in which he appeared on Broadway, as well as works by Sondheim, Coward, Kern, and others.   Piano accompaniment.   7:30 p.m. 

 

Wednesday, August 10 – YANKEE MALE CHORUS Eighty talented men with an extensive performance repertoire, including sacred, patriotic, and show tunes, in a benefit concert for Memorial Hall Center for the Arts.  Piano accompaniment.   8 p.m. 

 

Saturday, August 13 – JAY TRAYNOR of THE AMERICANS – Jay Traynor, the original Jay of JAY AND THE AMERICANS, returns to MHCA to perform the great hits of this smash 60’s group. “She Cried” is just the beginning. Complete with drums, bass, keyboard, and guitar.  8:00 p.m.  

 

Tuesday, August 16 – BANJO DAN and the MID-nite PLOWBOYS With over 25 years on the road, this bluegrass quintet combines fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, and string bass with excellent vocal harmony.    7:30 p.m.  

 

Saturday, August 20 – AUGUST DULCIMER DAZEAn MHCA favorite, featuring this traditional folk instrument and accomplished performers.   8:00 p.m.  Call Folk Craft Music (802-368-7437) for information about companion weekend workshops.  

 

Tuesday, August 23 – Tuesday Night CABARET SERIES – TBA     7:30 p.m.   

 

Tuesday, August 30 – DEERFIELD VALLEY HEALTH CENTER BENEFIT CONCERT – THE STOCKWELL BROTHERS, Bruce, Barry, and Alan, return to Memorial Hall with their bluegrass/ folk/rock style and impeccable harmony to help raise money to replace the x-ray machine for this local 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit health center.    7:30 p.m.   

 

Saturday, September 3 – THE DIAMONDSIt’s been close to 50 years since “Little Darlin’,” and the group is still fabulously entertaining, appearing throughout the world.  Four excellent vocalists, with piano, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and drums.   “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?” “Church Bells May Ring,” “Soft Summer Breeze,” “One Summer Night,” and more.   8:00 p.m.   

 

Friday, Saturday, September 23, 24, 30, October 1, 7, 8, 14, 15 – MYSTERY THEATRE – The Southern Vermont Players.   7:30 p.m.
