Saturday, July 7 – Chip Deffaa's GEORGE M. COHAN TONIGHT!   Jon Peterson is Cohan!   He will make you forget Cagney.   This musical and dance revue, relating the story of the quintessential song-and-dance man, packs nearly 40 songs into ninety fast-moving minutes.  You'll not only hear such rousing Cohan classics as "You're a Grand Old Flag," "Give My Regards to Broadway," and "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy," but also a wealth of wonderful rediscoveries -- rich with sentiment, syncopation, and joyously life-affirming melody.  The evening is a window into a fabulous era of show business.   Richard DeRosa on piano , with bass and percussion accompaniment .   Originally produced Off-Broadway in New York by the Irish Repertory Theatre--Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director; Ciarian O'Reilly, Producing Director.    8:00 p.m.   

 

Tuesday, July 10 – Tuesday Night SERIES – COMEDY NIGHT!   RAY CANALE with special guest TOMMY PENTA .    Ray's fifty-year career has taken him from Toronto to Palm Beach, Atlantic City to Vegas, playing casinos, theaters, fairs, festivals and private events for many international corporations & charities.    He has performed with Connie Francis, Engelbert Humperdinck, Al Martino, Dominic Chianese (Uncle Jr. from THE SOPRANOS) and many others.   What a way to start the Tuesday Series, with these two veterans!   The evening promises light-hearted fun and humor, and is good for your health!    Piano accompaniment .    7:30 p.m.   

 

Saturday, July 14 – VILLAGE LIGHT OPERA GROUP – Sixty accomplished NYC vocalists present Broadway standards, light opera favorites, and well-known songs from Gilbert and Sullivan.   A tradition in the Deerfield Valley, this special concert benefits MHCA and Village Light Opera Group.    Piano accompaniment .    8:00 p.m.    

 

Tuesday, July 17– Tuesday Night SERIES – LIZ CALLAWAY in Concert!   Liz Callaway, international performing artist, whose many Broadway, Off-Broadway, concert, film, and television credits include the role of Grizabella in CATS, for which she performed “Memory” on Broadway over 5000 times, presents an evening of Broadway show tunes, mirthful anecdote, and popular songs, including the very special “Memory” from CATS.   Piano accompaniment.     7:30 p.m.   

 

Saturday, July 21 – 7th Annual MHCA GARDEN TOUR – GARDENS, SCULPTURE, and STONE – Enjoy this self-guided tour of some of the Valley's most beautiful gardens.  Highlighting this year's tour are several gardens featuring the uniquely crafted dry stone works of Ben Bowen, a local dry-laid stone wall artisan.   The tour will also include a visit to this meticulous artist's home and garden. Several other gardens on the tour will feature striking pieces of sculpture creatively displayed in lush garden settings.   At 3 p.m. enjoy a grand tea party at the Harmony Hill garden in East Dover with magnificent views of New Hampshire's Mt. Monadnock, and relax as the Deerfield Valley Players present a program of songs from MAN OF LA MANCHA (opening July 27.)    This special benefit for MHCA begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.   Tickets for the tour are $15 and can be purchased at the MHCA box office.  On the day of the tour, tickets will be sold in front of Memorial Hall.   Rain date: July 22 .   

 

Saturday, July 21 – HABITAT for HUMANITY BENEFIT CONCERT – Sue Andrea , vocals, in an evening of song and music for the benefit of the local chapter of this 501 (c) (3) international charity.    8:00 p.m.   

 

Tuesday, July 24 – Tuesday Night SERIES – CALLOWAY BROOKS and THE CAB JIVERS – Oh, that jazz!   An evening celebrating the music of one of Harlem's finest: Cab Calloway.   A part of the Cab Calloway Orchestra's 100 th Anniversary Tour .    Seven-member ensemble with vocalist. 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Saturday, & Monday, July 27, 28, & 30 – MAN OF LA MANCHA – The Deerfield Valley Players present this popular Broadway musical.    Book by Dale Wasserman.   Lyrics by Joe Darion.   Music by Mitch Leigh.    8:00 p.m.

 

Tuesday, July 31 – ANNA POLONSKY – Internationally-acclaimed pianist appearing at MARLBORO MUSIC FESTIVAL this season, in an evening of solo piano.   Selections from Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn, and Schumann.      7:30 p.m.    

 

Thursday, Friday & Saturday, August 2, 3, & 4 – MAN OF LA MANCHA – The Deerfield Valley Players present this popular Broadway musical.    Book by Dale Wasserman.   Lyrics by Joe Darion.   Music by Mitch Leigh.    8:00 p.m.    

 

Tuesday, August 7 – Tuesday Night CABARET and JAZZ Series – The World Famous GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA –   The memorable hits of the swing era exquisitely performed with seventeen pieces and two vocalists (male and female).   Get on board the “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” for it's swing time!     7:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, August 11 – ASPERION recording artist – MIKE AIKEN – Having performed on stages throughout the eastern US and Canada, Mike is a Nashville recording artist with a Jimmy Buffett sound. With music that is a mix of folk rock, blues, country, southern rock, and bluegrass, he is a fast-rising country star! Six-piece band.    8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 14 – Tuesday Night SERIES – THE PHANTOM RETURNS!   Cris Groenendaal , presenting songs from THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, in which he starred on Broadway, as well as other works from popular Broadway musicals.    Piano accompaniment .    7:30 p.m.

Saturday, August 18 – AUGUST DULCIMER DAZE – An MHCA favorite, featuring this traditional folk instrument with Marc and Gilbert Mathieu, Susan Trump and several other outstanding performers.     8:00 p.m.      Call Folk Craft Music (802-368-7437) for information about companion weekend workshops.    

 

Tuesday, August 21 – Tuesday Night SERIES – THE SONGS OF THE RAT PACK –   The Joey Thomas Big Band with vocalist, Bob Father, seventeen performers in all, present an incomparable evening devoted to the best of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr.     7:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, August 25 – LIVINGSTON TAYLOR – The beloved singer/songwriter/musician, professor, and author with a warm, witty, entertaining charm.    8:00 p.m.    

 

Saturday, September 1 – STAYIN' ALIVE: The Ultimate Tribute to The Bee Gees – The close high harmonies of the Brothers Gibb have made The Bee Gees one of the most impossible attractions in music to launch a salute to….until "Stayin' Alive."    In looks, sound, and dress, this group presents all the favorites.     8:00 p.m.
